Good news on ARod

According to the Yankees official site, Alex Rodriguez ran the bases for the first time. He ran between first and second base 10 times. In addition he charged slow rollers for the first time and extended his range while going after grounders.

This is obviously good news for the Yankees. Although the Yankees are not hitting poorly without him, there are many situations where you can clearly see that ARod would be a big help for them. Joe Girardi and Brian Cashman still are saying they expect him back on May 15, however the general feeling is that ARod is ahead of schedule and could be back the first week of May. I know I am not the only one that can say, “I can not wait to ARod returns to this lineup.”

No surgery for Nady

According to SI’s Jon Heyman, Xavier Nady will not be having surgery.

Yankees outfielder Xavier Nady has been diagnosed with a partially torn ligament in his right elbow, but he will avoid surgery. He will likely need to rehab the injury for a period of weeks, perhaps a month.

Well, this seems like great news. Nady being injured severely hurt the Yankees depth especially with Matsui’s future in doubt. Hopefully he will be back soon and the Yankees can get him back into the lineup as a DH or whatever role suits him best.
