Yankees clinch postseason spot

Our nightmare is over. After a tense past week, or so, the Yankees have clinched a playoff spot with a win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Although there really was no doubt that the Yankees would make the playoffs, it still is soothing to know that they are guaranteed a postseason spot. YES is covering the celebration, so you can check that out if you wish.

  1. Officially the Yankees are playing the Minnesota Twins with the first two games at Target Field. A.L. Wildcard winner.

    • I’m glad that there is no more guessing involved with who they are going to play. And while I don’t know who would be the better match up for the Yankees, Texas or Minnesota, personally I’m glad they won’t be facing Cliff Lee in a short series.

  2. I agree with that statement. No home field advantage. Seen wildcard winners won the World Series such as the hated Red Sox in 2004, the Marlins in 2003, the Angels. The Yankees seen Carl Pavano, Francisco Liriano but I am not sure about Brian Duensing. I am not going to speculate #2 or three starter. Hughes or Pettitte.

    • You’re right. Of course home field advantage would be preferable, but the bottom line is any team can win anywhere, it doesn’t matter if you’re home or away. Regarding the #2 starter, they really can’t go wrong either way, but for some reason I think Hughes might be a better choice, still I will be happy with whoever they chose.
