Last night the Yankees won the first game of this series in dramatic fashion. If you want to see the story of the game check out my game recap. Anyway, today the Yankees look to secure a series win on this fine Saturday afternoon. Here is the starting lineup via Chad Jennings…
SS Derek Jeter
RF Nick Swisher – I’m shocked that he is back in the lineup so soon.
1B Mark Teixiera
3B Alex Rodriguez
2B Robinson Cano
DH Jorge Posada
LF Marcus Thames
C Francisco Cervelli
CF Brett Gardner
LHP Andrew Eugene Pettitte
Injury Updates
- Obviously Nick Swisher is back in the lineup today after leaving yesterday’s game early with a strain in his left biceps. Jennings reports that Swisher only feels pain when he hits left-handed, and since today’s starter for the Twins, Francisco Liriano, is left-handed Swisher will be batting right-handed.
- Chan Ho Park will likely return to the bullpen tomorrow which is really good news.
- Curtis Granderson ran a bit this morning according to Jennings, and he felt fine. That is a step in the right direction.
Nick Johnson still waiting
Chad Jennings has the latest news on Nick Johnson. Reportedly, after Johnson went on the DL he received a cortisone shot in his wrist and the Yankees are still waiting to see if it works.
“We’re hoping that works,” Brian Cashman said. “But if it doesn’t, we’ll have to take other avenues.”
If it does work Johnson could be back in about three weeks. If it doesn’t he will probably need some type of surgery and it will be at least 4-6 weeks before he returns.
The Field of Dreams for sale
If you have a few million dollars to spend, you can purchase the Field of Dreams. I think I’ll pass on the offer.
I guess Riz must be enjoying this! Mark Texieira hit a monster shot and Jorge Posada also hit a home run. It is 7-0 Yankees over the Twins at this moment!
Yeah, he should certainly be enjoying this, haha! But we’re enjoying it too, just from a distance. Both Posada’s and Teixeira’s home runs were absolute monster shots.
I know the final score of 7-1! I hope Boone Logan get sent down to Scranton Wilkes Barre Yankees tomorrow when Chan Ho Park get activated!
I hope so too. I just have no faith in Logan whatsoever and I really don’t have a reason for it.
This was a sick game Chris and you should have some faith in Logan because he can really bring it. He went 2 innings yesterday to close it out and he throws hard. And guys I did enjoy the game especially the homers. Anyway speaking of Swisher he was batting righty against a right hander and now I know it is because of his injury but it didn’t hurt is defense as he made a nice diving catch in right. Brett Gardner also made a nice diving stop on the first play of the game. Kinda bummed I didn’t see Granderson but I got to see the “energizer bunny” play and I was treated to a great game at the Bronx. If you didn’t see my picture of the old Yankee Stadium I warn that it is a little sad to see it completely gone. It was a great game and I had awesome seats behind the Twins’ dugout and I hope to be back at the Stadium real soon to see some more great Yankee baseball.
