As you already know, the Yankees swept the Twins in the ALDS and now are preparing to play the Angels (who swept to Red Sox in the ALDS) in the ALCS. Game 1 doesn’t start until Friday so here are a few questions you can look at and discuss until Friday comes along:
- Are the Yankees going to use 3 or 4 starters in the ALCS? Well it looks like they are strongly leaning to going with 3 starters, which would put CC Sabathia on short rest for game 4 and a possible game 7, but it would also allow the Yankees to keep Joba and Gaudin in the bullpen. More from Sam Borden…
- Will the Yankees make any roster adjustments? Well, there hasn’t been much said about the subject but if the decision was mine to make, I think I would take Damaso Marte off the roster in favor of Brian Bruney or Freddy Guzman.
- Will the Yankees use Joba for the 8th and Hughes for the 7th? I personally don’t understand how this has been brought up. Joba has pitched in a grand total of 2.2 innings coming out of the bullpen in all of 2009. Should he really be considered higher up in the pecking order than someone who has been there for over half a season? I don’t think so. When asked about Hughes, Girardi responded, “I’m not concerned about Hughsie.”
It really looks like this team has a good chance to go all the way, I feel whoever wins this ALCS will win the world series. This is the first time in a long time that I feel the Yankees are poised to win it all.
Will Joe Girardi change his number to 28 if the Yankees win it this season?
I think he would.
The Yankees won 4-3 in game 2 of the A.L.C.S. in the bottom of the 13th inning with help from the
Angels Maicer Izturis throwing error in turning a double play while A-Rod tied the game at 3-3 all in the bottom of the 11th inning with a solo home run!!! Another dramatic and classic game that was started by A.J. Burnett in game 2!!!
That game was just pure insanity. I could barely stay awake towards the end.
I know I was going to fall asleep!!!!!! I was listening to John Sterling call on the radio because I think Joe Buck and Tim McCarver on FOX got a bias on the Yankees!!! Damn it ended at 1:07 a.m. eastern!!! The trains and buses don’t run that frequently at that time!!!!
I can’t blame you for listening to the radio, I too can’t stand to listen to Joe Buck and Tim McCarver.
I can’t even imagine how tired the people who went to the game are today. The ones who stayed for the whole game could have gotten home as late as 3:00 or 4:00 am.
I didn’t have to listen to Buck or McCarver because I was there! WoW! The Stadium went nuts when A-Rod hit the HR to tie it! Great Game!
The trains run frequently at that time. I caught the 4 Train leaving the Stadium and got home approx. 3 in the morning.
Well, I’m sure it doesn’t run as frequently, but still getting home at 3 am after spending the day in the Bronx is draining. Well, it was well worth it anyway.
Oh it was definitely worth it! Also sleeping until noon the next day helped.
The Yankees lost in game 3 of the A.L.C.S. to the Angels by the score of 5-4 in the bottom of the 11th inning!!! Dave Robertson was pitching great with his stuff and location but he wasn’t in any jam or trouble in the 11th inning but Alfredo Aceves gave up a single to Howie Kendrick and a game winning double to Jeff Mathis of the Angels!!! Joe Girardi scratched my head sometimes with his bullpen moves and overmanaging the bullpen and leaving only one pitcher left if it went longer with Chad Gaudin as the only left!!!!
The Yankees win tonight then the Yankees are the 2009 American League Champions with A.J. Burnett on the mound!!! The N.L. Champions are the Philadelphia Phillies and they punch a ticket already to the World Series!!!
Now the series is back to the Bronx on Saturday night or game 6 after last night 7-6 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim!!! The Yankees never make it easy!!! Andy Pettitte must pitch well in game 6 on Saturday night or else I will feel 2004 all over again coming!!!
We will have an edge on the phils when we reach the world series.
Our pitching is dominant and alex’s bat is on fire.
Will thd bullpen hold up though?
anyways,
