Tonight the Yankees begin what is no doubt the biggest series of the year and it happens to be against the Red Sox. The Yankees come into this 4 game series 2.5 games ahead of the Red Sox, but they could leave the series 1.5 games behind Boston. The Yankees have to be looking to at worst split the series. Here is tonight’s starting lineup via Pete Abe:
SS Derek Jeter
LF Johnny Damon
1B Mark Teixeira
3B Alex Rodriguez
DH Hideki Matsui
C Jorge Posada
2B Robinson Cano
RF Nick Swisher
CF Melky Cabrera
And on the mound, Joba Chamberlain
Jose teaching Jorge how to catch
Marc Carig tells us that prior to Andy Pettittes last start, Jose Molina gave Jorge Posada a few tips on how to catch Pettitte. One of the tips was to make sure Pettitte keeps throwing his cutter. Make sure you check out the whole story here. Anyway, I was thinking, is Jorge really that bad a game caller that he needs Molina to help him? I mean Posada has caught Pettitte much more than Molina, but somehow Molina knows how to catch Andy better.
No roster moves
According to Pete Abe, Anthony Claggett is still with the team, but he thinks Ramiro Pena could be on his way up very soon.
THE CURSE OF THE BAMBINO IS ALIVE & WELL! Nick Swisher said it best when he said that the Yankees are a different team now which hopefully results in a different outcome tonight and a win for the Yankees.
Hopefully that’s true!! Because Joba doesn’t look sharp yet!!
MELKY HIT A BOMB! 5 – 3 YANKEES!!!!
13 – 6! First win against Boston & still in first!
