Tonight the Yankees begin a 3 game series against the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners send Brandon Morrow to the hill to take on the Yankees. You may or may not remember Brandon Morrow, but he pitched a no-hitter against the Yankees with 2 outs in the 8th inning last year. Guess who broke it up, Wilson Betemit. The Yankees hope that doesn’t happen again and I’m Let’s hope that doesn’t happen again tonight, and I’m sure the Yankees are confident it won’t as they send out the following lineup via PeteAbe out to face Morrow:
SS Derek Jeter
LF Johnny Damon
1B Mark Teixeira
3B Alex Rodriguez
2B Robinson Cano
C Jorge Posada
DH Hideki Matsui
RF Nick Swisher
CF Melky Cabrera
And on the mound, Joba Chamberlain
Nice to have a full lineup with a DH, right?
Yankees acquire Hinske
You may or may not know that the Yankees acquired Eric Hinske from the Pirates today. I wrote a post on the trade earlier today. Check it out. According to PeteAbe, Hinske’s plane was delayed from Pittsburg so he is not here yet, and no roster move has been made yet.
Ivan Nova flirts with a no-hitter
Last night Ivan Nova had a no-hitter through 5.2 innings in his AAA debut last night for Scranton Wilkes-Barre. Pretty cool.
Mike Lowell goes on the DL
The Red Sox placed Lowell on the 15 day DL today. Now I usually don’t post about other teams, but I plan on relating this to a Yankee situation. The reason Mike Lowell is on the DL is because his hip is still bothering him coming hip surgery, the same surgery that ARod had. This should be a warning to the Yankees that ARod has to be regulary rested if they don’t want him to reinjure his hip.
